Armenia willing to benefit from the Iranian private sector`s experiences
January 30, IFIF public relation- Head of Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Martin Sarkisian expressed his country's willingness to benefit from the precious experiences of Iran's private sector.
In a meeting with Head of Iran's Aras Free Trade Zone Mohsen Khadem Arab-Beigi on Sunday Sarkisian said, "The programs by Tehran and Yerevan to boost cooperation in different fields such as energy shows firm determination of the two countries to expand economic ties”.
He reiterated that given Armenian land borders with Iran can serve as a trade cooperation bridge between Iran and regional states.
Khadem Arab-Beigi, for his part, said that conditions are ripe for promoting ties, adding, "Border free zones can play an important role in the field."
The Iranian official also pointed to his two-day talks with Armenian Minister of Economic Development and Investment Suren Karayan, and expressed the hope that the relevant officials will facilitate presence of the private sector in various sectors to foster the value of the two countries’ trade.
On Sunday, an Iranian delegation comprising Aras Free Zone officials and Iranian Assyrian lawmakers arrived in Yerevan for talks with that country’s officials.
In a relevant development in late December, five memorandum of understanding (MoUs) were signed by Iran and Armenia in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargysyan in Yerevan.
The MoUs included joint use of Nurduz-Meghri border gate, cooperation in the field of emergency situations, tourism and museums as well as youth and sports.
